Welcome to Homeschooling Fourth Grade Social Studies! My goal is to guide you step-by-step through the process of learning to use the high-quality, free history and geography curriculum from Core Knowledge to homeschool your student.
What Will Your Student Learn in Fourth Grade? Your student will be improving their understanding of geographical concepts with a special focus on the mountains and mountain ranges of the world. They’ll spend time learning about medieval Europe, the development of Islamic civilization, and the Crusades. They’ll do a deep dive into the geography of Africa and the early and medieval African kingdoms as well as the dynasties of China. In U.S. history they’ll learn about the American Revolution including the preceding events as well as key figures and events of the revolutionary period. They’ll also spend time learning how the U.S. Constitution was developed and the rights and liberties it guarantees. They’ll get to know the early U.S. Presidents and a number of social reformers including Dorothea Dix, Horace Mann, and Sojourner Truth.
